David has been a professional photographer for many years, both in the studio and on numerous locations across Canada. He is now devoting much of his enthusiasm to a place he loves, High Park. David has lived in the High Park area since 1983, and has been a year round hiker and explorer of Toronto’s largest park ever since, the jewel of Toronto’s park system. He has always been fascinated by the visual transformation brought about by the extremes of temperature and seasonal changes in High Park, and began photographing the park in 2005. The idea for a photo collection dedicated to High Park came about when he got his first digital SLR camera. A life-long photographer, David wanted to reduce the amount of equipment needed for shooting professionally, to let his High Park images to be spontaneous, using natural light to its advantage.
I invite you to enjoy the 399 acres of High Park, see the glorious trilliums in spring, the mighty black oak leaves in summer, the cacophony of colour in the fall, and feel the brutal north wind that blows across Grenadier Pond in the winter.
